First of all the kettlebell was 12kg not pounds so very proud about that, no wonder my abs were so sore.
Today I actually really looked forward to the workout especially as they are always different and there was a good chance that I wouldn't be doing running today : )
I did run in the warm up but it was very short, then it rained so we used the rowing machines instead.
After the warm up we did 30 tricep dips on the rings, they did have a rubberband across it to help. Very hard.
Then the WOD1 was
750m row
30 warballs (where you squated holding a 6kg medicine ball then stood up and threw it high up on the wall & caught it
30 sit ups
500m rowing
20 Warballs & situps
350m row
10 Warballs & situps
of course I was last by a whole lap I can't even remember my time then straight into workout 2
The bad part by being last is no rest, this was:
12-10-8-6-4-2
Pull ups
box jumps
I won which was amazing only because one lady had to do another pull up as she didn't do it well enough. But it was quite easy-ish. I had a green rubber band to help me, which is the medium band and did them no problem only a few I had to struggle through at the begining.
All done in 6 mins.
The bad part is I bet Jason will put me on the next rubberband (purple) which is thinner & I'll probably struggle with really bad and be way behind again.
One women had to change bands halfway through to an easier one and felt really gutted about it but we all have strengths in different areas.
It was a great day and I am so proud of myself that I did well on 1 exercise but hell you got to take any victory you can get.

Back to New Market
So I showed up at New Market again yesterday. Everyone seemed pleasantly surprised. I wonder how many people only show up once.
The workout was good but I had to run. I hate running the whole time I'm running all I can think about is when I can stop running haha. So our work out was (after a killer warm up)
1 mile run
25-15-9
Kettleball swings
burpees
1 mile run.
It is very sad that I struggle to run a mile but I can only get better, I hope. It took me 13 min to run the first mile and I did walk some of it. Then with the KB & burpees you do 21 of each then 15 each then 9 each then a run. I was of course the last there and the last back, I was nacked and I had 12pounds of KB to swing right up to above my head which is very hard when you are weak like me. But I did do it even though I lost count the first two reps so have no idea if I did more or less. Last run took me 15 minutes haha so 35mins all up.
It was so frustrating being behind everyone else by so much. I wasn't last, I was out of the race, I was so far behind.
I was meant to talk to Jason about my goals but he was in a hurry & I think he forgot. But he did compliment me on coming back and the fact that I didn't give up says a lot. It was very needed due to my poor damaged ego. But now I have a goal: GET FIT!!! as well as strong.
Soreness wise. My upper abs are sore today but not that bad. Also from the last workout I was sore shoulders & inner thigh ons Wednesday but by Thursday was ready to workout again.

Another intro this time in New Market
I went to New Market crossfit yesterday morning. Had to travel right in peak hour, so even though I gave myself double the normal time I was still 15 minutes late!! Next time I'll give myself a full hour.
I had to pay for parking which was annoying. I walked into the gym (very well signposted) there were 3 women already working out. I spoke to Jason (the trainer) who put me through the warm up straight away and then talked about the workout of the day (WOD) which is called Cindy. For some reason beyond me someone decided to give the workouts real peoples names and everyone followed along. The Cindy was
5 Pullups (haha yeah right)
10 push ups (hmm maybe knee ones)
15 squats (no problem)
as often as possible in 20 mins.
Jason decided to go for 15 minutes something I am grateful for.
For the pullups there was a rubber tube tied to a steel beam which you put your foot in and it helps lift you up. In fact the pull ups were easy and fun.
The pushups I was on my knees and had a foam cushion under them plus one chest level. I went down until my chest touched the cushion then back up again. I couldn't help but think if I had DD implants in how much easier that would be.
Squats we all the way down until my butt touched a ball.
The 3 women raced against each other while I made sure every moved counted and my technique was perfect.
Crossfit is a high injury sport but normally because people decide to choose intensity or speed over technique. I read it is best to spend a good 6 months practising the right technique before worrying about upping the intensity.
I got a lot of compliments on my technique which always feels good by Jason. The other women raced away & I noticed their technique lacked. Also at the end they all said that they had done 13 rounds when the never finished the last round. So while I completed 11 rounds I feel I did fantastic, not only for myself but against women who have done this longer.
By the end of the workout I felt weak & worn out but not on the verge of vomiting which I did for that small 7 min W/O at St Johns (which is never fun)
I signed a wavier afterwards haha likely I didn't hurt myself aye ; ) and Jason told me to come over on Friday for another workout & we would talk about my goals.
So all in all a very positive day. His classes are around 5-10 people prepared to St Johns (about 30) and I feel I would prefer the smaller, calmer environment.
Also it is cheaper & closer to where I live, so I will give it a go there first. Jasons intro is during the womens classes Tues & Fri so that works in with my schedule & I only have to pay normal monthly fees of $180. Prepared to St Johns 4 week intro (3x weekly) at $250 ouch.
Today I feel a bit sore around my shoulders and my inner thighs & butt but all in all not bad at all. I thought I would be alot worse. And I slept like a baby last night which is an added bonus. With two small children you realise pretty quick how important sleep is. Precious precious sleep.
I'll keep you posted on my Fridays W/O.

HAd my first intro at St Johns Crossfit
After just discovering Crossfit the other day (thanx to my husband pointing it out to me). I googled it and found 4 crossfit gyms in my area. I use to enjoy the gym environment many years ago, but got bored of the idea of going to the gym to pump weight. Crossfit sounds like a better alternative, and the environment seems more group friendly and well fun.
Gee, they are certainly not cheap with the cheapest being around $180NZ a month to $230NZ, you really have to commit to make sure you get the most for your buck.
I went for my free intro at St Johns today. After getting lost (thank you very much GPS!) I found it with 5 minutes to spare for my appointment at 9am. Walking into a studio with the roller door wide open to allow fresh air in, I saw around 30 people chatting away with barbells lying in neat rows along the padded floor to my left. In front of me were 3 people chatting and I was hoping my blank lost look that I perfected on my face would get someones attention to come up and aske me how they can help. I got my wish 3minutes later (which is a long time standing around feeling stupid). Chatting to a nice lady whose name I politely forgot 20seconds after she told me. I was to wait for Darren to arrive.
We had a good chat where he explained to me the concept of Crossfit & what he was doing. Then he showed me how to do a proper squat, chestforwrd squat, situp & push up (which I could barely do 3, pathetic I know). Darren put together a small workout of:
100mtr row
10x squat
7x situp
5x burpees
as many times in 7 mins
No problem I thought waiting for him to set the timer, so easy, I do the spontanious workout & don't think I'm that unfit. Well......
I did 3 rounds plus 6 squats and was so grateful as he counted down the minutes that I didn't have to do burpees again after the 3rd go.
We chatted breifly about diet in which they follow paelo (google it) and then I left with a promise that he would email me details for a 4 week intro.
I really enjoyed myself and everyone seemed down to earth & very friendly (even though I just had eyelash extensions put in yesterday & looked like THAT girl, who worksout with full makeup, oh well).
I am very keen to try out Crossfit. I have a free intro at New Market on Tuesday so looking forward to seeing how that goes.
